At the Charles Dennis Foundation, our annual tournament is about much more than competition. It is about community, opportunity, sportsmanship, and coming together to make a difference in the lives of young athletes. Each year, there is one group of people who plays an essential role in making this event possible: our referees.
Referees are one of the most important parts of any soccer tournament. They help protect the integrity of the game, keep matches fair, and create an environment where players can compete with confidence. Their presence brings structure, accountability, and balance to every match. Without referees, the tournament simply would not be what it is.
What many people may not realize is that referees give far more than their time on the field. They bring focus, energy, patience, and professionalism to a fast-paced day filled with competition and excitement. They make quick decisions under pressure, manage the flow of the game, and help create a positive experience for players, coaches, and families alike.
For our foundation, their support means even more. When referees choose to be part of our annual tournament, they are not just showing up for a game. They are helping support a mission that is centered on giving back through soccer. They are helping us create opportunities, fund scholarships, and continue building something meaningful in memory of Chuck Dennis.
Year after year, we are reminded that strong communities are built by people who are willing to serve. Our referees do exactly that. Their willingness to give their time and talent helps make our event successful and helps move our mission forward. Their contribution has a direct impact, and we do not take that for granted.
We are deeply grateful for every referee who supports the Charles Dennis Foundation. Your commitment, your professionalism, and your generosity mean more than words can fully express. Thank you for helping us make this tournament possible each year and for being such an important part of our foundation’s mission.

If you would like to referee at our upcoming 5v5 Tournament on June 6th at Patriots Point, we would love to hear from you. Referees are needed from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and compensation is $30 per hour for 2 games. Please reach out to us to get involved and help support a tournament with a purpose.
Your support matters. Your role matters. And we appreciate you more than you know.
